Dr Yan Labs is a family company. Five people, one obsession: plant-derived actives with real science behind them, developed with the quality and delivery technology needed to put them to work.
It started in the summer of 2019 with a fascination for plant chemistry and a simple question: what actually makes a botanical active worth working with? At the time, we were exploring plant oils, extraction and the chemistry behind natural compounds, reading everything we could find and testing what we were learning in practice. One botanical family kept drawing us back: Cannabaceae, the family that includes hops. The deeper we went, the more one molecule stood out.
Xanthohumol became the beginning of a much bigger project, one that would eventually take us from botanical raw material to extraction, standardization and delivery technology.
The more we read, the more one class of compounds stood out: polyphenols. And within them, one molecule stopped us cold. Xanthohumol, hiding inside an ordinary hop cone, is a potent natural antioxidant with an unusually rich biological profile, far more interesting than its humble source would suggest. We were hooked. The question stopped being “isn’t this fascinating?” and became “why is nobody doing this properly?”
Being fascinated was the easy part. Making it real took years. Learning the extraction. Standardizing our own extract, not to “good enough”, but to a number we could put our name on. Then the harder problem: a powerful molecule is useless if it never arrives, so we became obsessed with delivery and bioavailability. There were long stretches of doubt, and more than one moment we wondered if it would work. We kept going. In 2024, that stubbornness finally had a name: Dr Yan Labs.
The exact how, the process behind our extraction and standardization, stays with us. It’s the part we spent five years earning, and it’s ours.
